Why might you need an Umbrella Policy?
Not everyone needs the extra protection that this type of policy provides. Ask yourself, "
Umbrella policies provide protection beyond your auto, homeowners, and other personal liability policies. If a lawsuit could potentially jeopardize your assets, you may want the added coverage and peace of mind that you get with an Umbrella policy. Here is a brief summary of what this kind of policy provides: Liability Coverage of up to $5,000,000 for bodily injury, personal injury and property damage for which you are legally responsible, including liabilities associated with personally owned watercraft and recreational motor vehicles. Legal Defense Coverage for costs associated with any legal action brought against you for damages mentioned above and covered by the policy. Additional Expense Coverage is provided in addition to the limits of liability of your policy. Coverage includes expenses incurred for a covered claim or lawsuit that the company is obligated to defend (i.e., premiums on required bonds and reasonable expenses associated with the investigation of a covered claim or lawsuit).
